Maris O'Rourke began writing in 2008 and since then has been well placed in
a number of competitions e.g. Robert Burns, Caselberg, Kevin Ireland and Matariki and published in a range of journals e.g. Takah?, Poetry New Zealand (Guest Poet, Issue 44), Bravado, ‘a fine line’ (inaugural guest poet), Shot Glass Journal (USA), Otago Daily Times, International Literary Quarterly (UK), Side Stream, Tyneside Poets (UK), The Fib Review (USA), Flash Frontier and Landfall. She has also been included in a number of anthologies e.g. Essential New Zealand Poems: Facing the Empty Page, Starch Vol II and Taking Latin America Home. Maris’s first poetry collection Singing With Both Throats was published by David Ling Publishing in 2013 to good reviews. She has also had two successful children’s books, illustrated by Claudia Pond Eyley, published
by Duck Creek Press – Lillibutt’s Big Adventure (2012) and Lillibutt’s Te Araroa Adventure (2014) and their third Lillibutt’s Australian Adventure will be launched this year. She is currently enrolled in the AUT MCW course and working on a memoir with the working title Zig Zags and Leapfrogs.

Lesley Smith has an arts and graphic design background, designing and publishing books for nearly thirty years. In her role as director of Lopdell House Gallery for ten years, she established the gallery as a significant name in New Zealand publishing; publishing and distributing numerous books and catalogues including two Montana Book Award winners: Len Castle – Making the Molecules Dance and To the Harbour by Stanley Palmer. Smith now has a foot in both the old and new sides of graphic design, enjoying the flexibility of the digital process of book production and the creative rigour of letterpress. Lesley Smith’s Katsura Press, the letterpress branch, was launched in 2013.
